Global Colon Cancer (GCC) is a registered Not-For-Profit organisation born out of the successes of europacolon. Jola Gore-Booth, Founder/ Director of europacolon had the vision of a Global Colon Cancer Community as early as 2006. Today, countries throughout the world are contacting the Organisation to become members of this Global Community.europacolon is currently the only pan European colorectal cancer organisation. At present, the Organisation has 14 Affiliate and Associate groups. Within the next year there are plans for 10 more countries to join europacolon creating an even wider European colorectal cancer community all working to:
- Raise the profile and awareness of the disease
- Provide responsible information on colorectal cancer
- Encourage active political campaigning for screening and improved choice of treatments
- Promote the improvement of European standards and equity of access to best treatments and care.
Global Colon Cancer is receiving requests from interested parties outside of Europe wishing to either share with other groups or set up a dedicated colorectal cancer group in their own country.
Global Colon Cancer has three core values based on sharing, learning and growing. The Organisation's goal is to provide a platform to bring together existing organisations and to support the development of new colorectal cancer groups. By creating such a platform Global Colon Cancer aims to unite people from all over the world in the fight against this killer disease.
The Organisation is supported by Professor James Cassidy MBChB, MSc, MD, MRCP, Medical Oncologist at the Beatson Centre, Scotland.
